The Department of Transport and Public Works, Western Cape Government has an exciting employment opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual who wants to make a difference to ensure departmental financial accounting services. This post is stationed in Cape Town, CBD.
Key Performance Areas
- Responsible for the efficient and effective accounting services inclusive of salary deduction services;
- Ensure that the in-year, annual report and financial systems are effectively managed;
- Responsible for ensuring financial statements are fairly presented;
- Liaison with the relevant stakeholders;
- Ensure an integrated and effective accounting system.

Minimum Requirements
- An appropriate 3-year B-degree/ Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) or higher qualification as recognised by SAQA;
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant middle management experience on a strategic level in financial accounting;
- A valid driving licence;
- Successful completion of the Senior Management Pre-entry Programme for entry into the SMS upon appointment.
Recommendation
- Strong financial background.

Knowledge of government policies and procedures (Public Finance Management Act and circulars, etc); Financial Management; Advanced analytical and critical thinking ability; Advanced knowledge of Modified Cash Standards/ GRAP/ SCOPA;

Remuneration
The all-inclusive salary package of R 1 073 187 per annum (salary level13).
Note: The remuneration package consists of a basic salary (70%) and the employer's contribution to the Pension Fund. The remainder of the package may be structured according to your personal needs.
