Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  • Effective team supervision, planning, organising and control within area of responsibility to achieve daily production, quality and safety target.
  • Safe blasting operations and examine workplaces and declare them safe prior to crews commencing work.
  • Follow surveyors' measurements and plotting in marking the workface in terms of drill holes, dip and direction
  • Measures of over and under-break, direction and dip are within servicing parameters set for the specific workplace.

  • Prompt hazard identification, communication and resolution
  • Self and team wear the correct PPE before executing a task
  • Self and team participate in morning meetings and complete the relevant checklists, risk / safety documents as required
  • Self and team understand and comply with M&RC’s standards, procedures, polices and safety protocols
  • Effective self and team supervision in alignment with M&RC’s

Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
  • Blasting Certificate of competency
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Medical Certificate of Fitness
  • Team management skills
  • Organisational skills
  • Good communication skills in English

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Miner
  • Must have been trained and found competent with the relevant experience in equipping and Construction
  • Resourceful problem solver who can work within agreed parameters
  • Experience supervising a team
