Vehicle Driver, Western Cape - Stellenbosch University

Duties

• Daily collection of specimens from the CLIME clinic sites, National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) and Khayelitsha, and delivery to the CLIME laboratory at Stellenbosch University, Tygerberg Campus, according to the necessary transport safety regulations for the transportation of clinical specimens;

• Transporting stock from the CLIME lab to the clinical sites to prevent disruption of recruitment activities due to stock deficiencies;
• Transporting patients from residences to the clinical sites and back for follow-up visits. This includes transporting the clinical staff to conduct house visits;
• Performing regular checks on the vehicle to ensure that it is in good and safe working condition;
• Coordinating with the driving staff;
• Staying in constant electronic and telephonic communication with all stakeholders;
• Maintaining log sheets to document transfer of material and patients;
• Assisting with administrative, cleaning, and clerical duties at clinical sites when required driver activity is quiet.

Job Requirements

• A minimum of Grade 12 (Matric) National Senior Certificate, plus a minimum of two years' relevant experience;
• A valid Code 08 South African driver's license;
• In possession of / or will have a valid PDP license by the time employment commences;
• Good interpersonal and communication skills;
• The ability to schedule and plan trips efficiently and excellent time management skills;
• Must stick to a pre-agreed schedule;
• The ability to work under pressure.
