Rosmead SUPERSPAR & TOPS and Plattekloof SPAR are looking for an experienced and passionate Baker to join our Bakery Team. We are seeking a baker to join our Store Bakery Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality baked products in accordance with company standards, production plans, and food safety requirements. The role requires a dedicated team player who is committed to delivering fresh, quality products and excellent customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mix and prepare ingredients according to production requirements, recipes, and quality standards.
- Shape and prepare dough for a variety of pastries and baked products.
- Bake different types of bread and other bakery products to the required quality standards.
- Develop and recommend new recipes and product ideas to refresh the menu and attract customers.
- Monitor and adjust oven temperatures to ensure consistent and correct baking results.
- Monitor food and ingredient supplies and place orders when stock levels require replenishment.
- Minimise ingredient and product wastage throughout the production process.
- Control and monitor the use of ingredients, particularly those used in yeast-based products.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels in line with production schedules and customer requirements.
- Ensure all bakery equipment is thoroughly cleaned and sanitised at the end of each shift.
- Ensure all production areas and facilities are cleaned and maintained to the required hygiene standards.
- Follow established systems and procedures to ensure all customer orders are produced accurately, on time, and to the required quality standards.

Minimum requirements
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate will be an advantage.
- Must have a clear criminal record.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a bakery environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong team player with the ability to work effectively with others.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Sound knowledge of bakery operations, food hygiene, and health and safety standards.
- Proven ability to operate bakery equipment safely and effectively.
- Must be willing and able to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays where required.
