PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To plan, direct and coordinate sales, by establishing and managing sales territories, quotas, and goals to achieve sales volume and gross profit. Leading a team and also being the one to ensure that sales statistics are gathered in the field, to determine sales potential and inventory requirements and monitor the preferences of customers. 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Drive Results;

  • Translate yearly targets into monthly and weekly targets.
  • Monitor and manage own sales activity to ensure achievement towards targets.
  • Manage and monitor direct teams in line with the strategy.
  • Direct and coordinate activities in order to achieve determined gross profit.
  • Manage and monitor distributor performance for the designated area.

Customer Focus

  • Confer with customers by telephone or in-person to provide information about products, take or enter orders, cancel accounts, or obtain details of complaints.
  • Keep records of customer interactions or transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, or comments, as well as actions taken.
  • Check to ensure that appropriate changes were made to resolve customers' problems.
  • Refer unresolved customer grievances to designated departments for further investigation.

Ensures Accountability;

  • Manage company vehicle for self and team.
  • Monitor performance relative to team performance as well as own.
  • Manage and coordinate weekly and monthly sales reports.

Collaborates;

  • Obtain new product information from marketing on an ongoing basis, to ensure knowledge sharing with own department and staff.
  • Coordinate training for customer development representatives on new products.
  • Compile new product launches with relevant customers.

EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Diploma in Sales and Marketing.
  • Five years of sales experience in an FMCG environment. 
  • One to two years of management experience.
