Purpose of the Job

To ensure the development process of specific products from concept to launch.

Job Objectives

To conduct product development:

  • Conduct market research
  • Idea generation/Brainstorming
  • Identify possible concepts for development
  • Identify spot trends
  • Identify consumer needs
  • Establish competition range
  • Conceptualize brief
  • Identify possible suppliers

To conduct recipe development:

  • Competing product evaluation
  • Prototype development
  • Sensory evaluation
  • Conduct shelf-life test
  • Input on and test Packaging
  • Costing

To conduct large-scale product development:

  • Up-scale of recipe
  • Development of recipe
  • Sensory evaluation
  • Costing
  • Shelf-life

To input on the detail regarding packaging and labeling:

  • Provide all information labeling and sign-of
  • Nutritional analysis

To conduct product specifications and provide info to suppliers:

  • In-house recipe system
  • Listing of new product
  • To hand over-developed product
  • Finalise costing - supplier to buyer
  • Finalise product item listings
  • To launch the new product in the stores
  • Determine launch date
  • Implement in-store, hand-over training and track product performance

Qualifications

  • Diploma/ Certificate from a Culinary school (Essential).
  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality (hotel/ Restaurant Management) (Desireable).

Experience

2+ years experience within the food industry (Essential).
