Responsibilities:

• Sourcing and developing new merchandise, as well as reviewing existing merchandise, in order to ensure the product offering remains competitive
• By fully understanding the customers’ needs, this person must be able to maximise profits and provide a commercially viable range of merchandise at competitive prices
• Negotiate effectively

• Build and maintain good relationships with staff, suppliers and key functions in the business
• Think in terms of the "big picture" as well as consider specifics and detail
• Assess complex situations and implement workable solutions
• Communicate effectively at all level
• Understanding business trends and target markets
• Strategically influencing product and assortment/range planning, based on historical and forecasted information
• Being able to critically analyse and evaluate data in order to make strategic business decisions, which affect turnover and business growth
• Product development

Requirements:

• A proven track record in buying
• Contributed to growth/profit through innovative and creative ideas
• Good working knowledge of the current computer software packages (knowledge of Excel, Word, E-mail & PowerPoint)
• Experience in sourcing from various sources and countries
• Strong presentation skills
• 3+ years experience in a similar role
• Product development and international sourcing experience
• Works independently
