ROLE SUMMARY

Monitoring and controlling of stock in Theatre

KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

The duties of the post include but are not limited to the following, and are carried out in accordance with Netcare’s Policies and Procedures. The objective of this post is to render and promote quality patient care in accordance with hospital standards/policies.

  • Monitoring of stock levels and expiry dates in all storage areas
  • Implementation and control of systems for stock control
  • Stock replenishment to all areas
  • Stocktake preparation, capturing and finalization of stock take
  • Cyclical stock counts for inventory purposes
  • Elimination of slow stock and redundant stock by constant communication with doctors, nursing staff, pharmacy and other stock controllers in the group
  • Follow up on back orders and ordering of stock
  • Overseeing of correct bar-coding of stock
  • Managing the theatre stock clerks
  • Manage all aspects of the consignment stock

  • Maintaining good interpersonal relationships with suppliers, co-workers and clients
  • Being available to be called out in emergencies when special stock is required
  • Control of high-value items
  • Prevention of stock losses and theft
  • Charging of Theatre charge sheets. Making sure all sheets are up to date
  • Assisting nursing staff with surgical items in the store.
  • Checking Theatre’s medicine fridge for minimum and maximum temperatures on daily basis
  • Checking of drug books for charging of items used

SKILLS PROFILE

EDUCATION

Essential:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 Qualification

WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Sound surgical and pharmaceutical product knowledge
  • Experience and knowledge of Surgical and Ethical stock products
  • Previous stock control experience in a hospital environment will be advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer literate
  • SAP knowledge will be advantageous
  • Strong team player
  • Ordering of stock and processing of invoices
