The ICT Technician will assume a critical role in supporting the organisation's information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure, with a primary focus on the end user and site support. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of end user devices, resolving technical issues, and providing exceptional support to our staff.

This role requires a combination of technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a customer-centric approach.



Duties & Responsibilities

End User Support

  • Provide technical support to end users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, responding to inquiries, and resolving problems promptly.
  • Install, configure, and maintain end user devices such as desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.

Hardware and Software Management

  • Perform hardware upgrades, replacements, and repairs as needed.
  • Install, update, and maintain software applications on end user devices.
  • Conduct regular software audits to ensure compliance with licensing agreements.

System Administration

  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in collaboration with the system administrators.
  • Monitor system performance and implement optimisations to enhance end user experience.

Network Connectivity

  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues for end user devices.
  • Collaborate with the network team to ensure seamless and secure access to resources.

Security and Compliance

  • Implement and enforce security protocols for end user devices, including antivirus software and encryption.
  • Stay informed about the latest security threats and ensure that end user environments are protected against potential risks.



Documentation and Training

  • Create and maintain documentation for hardware and software configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and user guides.
  • Conduct training sessions for end users on best practices, security protocols, and efficient use of technology.


  • Work closely with other ICT team members to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Collaborate with vendors to resolve hardware and software-related problems.

Stay Current with Technology

  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in end user computing.
  • Make recommendations for the adoption of new technologies to enhance end user productivity.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Strong inclination towards administrative tasks with the ability to efficiently remote operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct technical research to identify solutions and improvements for administrative and ICT-related challenges.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the capacity to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong technical knowledge of desktop operating systems, hardware, and software applications.
  • Proficiency in Teams and SharePoint administration, including site management, permissions, and customisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct technical research to identify and implement solutions to complex technical issues.
  • Solid knowledge of computer hardware, software applications, networking principles, and security practices.
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in office productivity tools and collaboration platforms.

Minimum Requirements


  • IT Tech Support
  • CompTIA A+ and/or CompTIA N+
  • Microsoft Certified Professional
  • IT Systems Support NQF Level 5


  • Proven experience as an ICT Technician or in a similar role, with a focus on end user environments.
